A cult classic I like a fair bit that unfortunately has been forgotten to time.
Like always, please seed

i was actually looking for this a few months ago, since the anime ends so abruptly and it only covers the first 3 volumes, so there is a lot more to the story, but i couldn't find it anywhere and i was also under the impression that it wasn't translated all the way ? but i guess it is ?
The earlier volumes being as low quality as they are makes this quite a rough manga to get into, not to speak of the absurd end. The anime on the other hand was great. A KyoAni staple.
Oof. This scanlation is awful. And what's worse is that the scanlation group ("FoOlRulez") doesn't seem to be self-aware about how terrible their work is throughout, whether in TL notes or in the added notes pages. I'm only getting through volume 5 but it's difficult to relate to the characters when they all speak in stilted, robotic english. The TLers frequently forget how to use english conjugations, so the dialogue often feels completely unnatural.
There are lots of other grammar problems everywhere as well, almost like the TL group is mostly ESL people. I don't know if the scanlation quality improves in later volumes. I hope it does. I'll report back in that case.
I guess that's just the way it was back in the late 00's but still I feel like this manga deserved better.
Yeah it doesn't get any better. A few chapters are redeemable, but after maybe volume 7 or 8, it descends into some double-translated madness and you can actually feel the generational loss between languages as subtlety of meaning is completely deleted. In the last 4-5 volumes, the source is a Chinese fan translation, not the original Japanese. It's horrific. So many dialogue bubbles are downright confusing and complete nonsense in English, and the characters often speak in unnatural ways. You can actually sense how a lot of the subtlety of feeling and intention is just gone even without knowing the original Japanese lines. And this is all in ADDITION to the horrific ESL grammar and typos. Overeager ESL fan translators are such a curse on the fandom. It really would be better if scanlation groups took their time on unlicensed properties rather than trying to "speed-sub" them from a third intermediary language like it seems was the case here.
Bandai Entertainment licensed this out for English but only got 3 volumes done before they dropped it as part of the restructuring into Bandai Namco. Long out of print, each extant physical volume from used book resellers is running $30-$40.
I guess it's better that the whole thing sucks ass rather than getting 3 volumes of high-quality English and then it suddenly drops to ESL hell.
